Chronic Pain? Self Help, Finding and Correcting The Cause: Part 2

neck pain relief

As we discussed in the previous article, You can truly help yourself with not only finding the source of your chronic pain, but actually helping alleviate some of the discomfort by learning how to release the muscles with pressure point therapy.

In this article we will discuss the neck, shoulder and elbow pains.

Neck – just below the back of your skull where it meets your neck, apply pressure on one inch  either side of the center, then another inch further out from center

  • On the top of your shoulders where they meet the side of your neck

Shoulder – just above the front web of your armpit

  • Just above the back web of your armpit
  • On the outside of your arm about two inches below the tip of your shoulder

Elbow – with the back of your hand on your thigh when seated, wrap your thumb and fingers around your arm an inch below your elbow. Try making a fist and squeeze your hand around the arm while alternating between flexing and extending your wrist. Also try twisting your forearm left then right while squeezing the muscles. If you feel around these muscles below your elbow you may find the sorest points. You may also find that by working on the elbow and forearm muscles you can alleviate some chronic wrist pains.

All these suggestions are to try to give you some relief at home. If your problem persists or you feel you would like a little help with these procedures, please make an appointment and we will be happy to help.
