Recent studies show that Chiropractic patients experience fewer Adverse Drug Events compared to people who don’t see a Chiropractor. This makes good sense to most Chiropractic patients because we tend to take less drugs, therefore less reactions. Chiropractors don’t necessarily feel that patients should avoid drugs completely. If one is having a lot of pain, for instance, trying some analgesics may quickly reduce pain. However, you also need to do something that helps get to the root of your problem. The pain killer helps temporarily by numbing the pain but does nothing to stop the return of the pain once the drug wears off.
Your Chiropractor will help you find what is causing your pain and take some steps to stop the cause. Then give you some ideas for what you can do on your own as well, that will help get your body healthy again without the pain. Some patients enjoy the feeling of a normal healthy spine with less pain and stiffness so much, that they begin a routine of regular maintenance. This is where patients return for a check-up every month or so to get some help with improving their spine before it causes troubles again. Not everyone needs this regular care, but for those who do, they tell our staff you couldn’t talk them out of it. They love their monthly adjustments, exercise tips, and wellness advice.
