What makes Chiropractic so successful in the research is our ability to restore mobility to joints and thereby reducing the irritation (or pinching) of nerves. We do this by performing adjustments or manipulations of the joints, most commonly vertebrae of the spine. This is further helped by releasing tension on the related muscles. Trigger point therapy, stripping, or simply stretching muscles, are all techniques for reducing muscle tension. These are all somewhat effective on their own, but when you add Chiropractic adjustments to the related areas of the spine or other joints, we see much better relief.
Adjusting the joints is usually a very simple, gentle procedure. It sometimes makes a ‘cracking’ noise, but not always. It usually feels good afterwards and only occasionally is tender if the area is particularly tight and inflamed to begin with. Most patients are very satisfied after an adjustment because they can feel better mobility, better posture and even have more energy. The next step in care is to prescribe the best exercises to do at home that will continue to loosen up the joints and muscles allowing the improvement of the treatment to last as long as possible.
Our goals for our patients here at Matheson Chiropractic are first to provide relief, and help patients get out of pain, and as quickly as possible. Then we want to restore normal function and alignment of the spine and other joints. Finally, we work with you to gain control of your problem with special tips for posture and other home exercises including stretching and rehabilitative strengthening. We are dedicated to helping patients feel well.
