My seven-year-old daughter is having problems with headaches and has to miss some days at school because of them. Can Chiropractors help? Yes, we can. People of all ages get headaches, and the good news about children is that most times they are quite easy to correct and keep under control. We always do a thorough consultation and examination to rule out more serious causes, but most headaches come from stress in the neck and upper back.
Many types of stress cause tension in joints and muscles and this in turn is painful and if it affects the upper part of the back or the neck it often results in a headache. Stress can be mental, as a result of worrying, bullying, or an unhappy home life. Stress can also be physical like too much exercise or poor posture at the computer, or some type of accident, or fall. Lack of exercise can also be considered a physical stress because movement is what keeps our body healthy, and lack of movement is irritating to us. Finally, stress can be chemical, from eating too much sugar, medications, or lack of good nutrition.
If your child experiences headaches, give us a call to book an appointment or book online. We’d be happy to help.
