We’ve had several patients who would have had to give up running, or sports in general, if it wasn’t for buying custom-made orthotics.
At our office most custom-made orthotics are $400. The good news is many insurance companies will reimburse you for this purchase. We always encourage patients to check with their insurance company before ordering, to determine what their insurance needs in terms of documentation. This often includes a prescription note from your physician, a biomechanical assessment which we provide, a description of the casting technique, and a list of the materials used to make them. The companies are very particular about you meeting all of their requirements but we can help. Just be sure to find out what they need.
Make a separate appointment or discuss this subject with us at your next visit. It usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes to cast you for the orthotics and about a week for them to be available. There are different styles of orthotics and especially sandalthotics which look like a regular pair of sandals but with built in custom-made orthotic inserts.
