Top Five Back Strains In The Summer

Summer is a great season for getting outside and enjoying the beautiful weather. Some activities carry more risk than others and sometimes an injury occurs that leads you to our office.

The following are actual cases we have seen, sometimes, multiple times.

  1. While doing a back flip on water skis and you just don’t quite make the complete turn. “Oops, I threw my back out!”
  2. Slipping off the roof while doing some work on it. “That’s gonna hurt!”
  3. Diving into a pool and going a little too shallow, into a belly flop. “Ow!”
  4. Tripping while running/walking on uneven trails. “Darn it!”
  5. Stepping onto a boat that is tied to the dock. Suddenly your feet are getting further and further apart, and down you go! “Shucks!”

Accidents happen more often in the summer likely because we are more active. The good news is these accidents are usually minor enough and a trip or two to the Chiropractor usually helps a lot, after you try to relax and apply ice to the sore area. On the other hand, those who are not active enough suffer from a lack of movement or a movement deficiency syndrome. Sometimes we can become couch potatoes and are simply not as healthy as we could be. We don’t ever feel really good and too much sitting may actually cause more problems in the long run.
